How to hook up my cable to play in surround sound?

How do I hook up my cable tv to play through my surround sound? I got the optical cable and plugged it in from the tv to the blue ray surround sound...now what?

Select the optical input on the surround sound. If you don't get sound check the audio menu of the TV to make sure the output is compatible. If you have a cable box with optical audio out you could connect directly to the box if that is the only source.
