how to make the mic work for beats on windows 8

my mic on my beats solo 2 wont work on windows 8 plz help!

is the connector a 4 pole connector (3 rings and a tip) on the 3.5mm? if so you'd need an adapter (commonly called phone headset to pc adapter) which divides it up into two seperate 3.5mm cables for use with pc.
