Hi,

I want my Pioneer VSX-819 (which can process DTS-HD Master Audio) to work with that sound. I also have a movie with it.

My equipment is connected this way:

Software: Media Player Classic with K-Lite Codec Pack + AC3Filter via S/PDIF

Sound Card: Sound Blaster X-Fi Fat4lity Platinum connected to the A/V Reciever via Optical wire.

Graphics Card: NVidia GeForce 8800GTS 320mb (has 2 DVI outputs) connected directly to the TV with a DVI-to-HDMI wire.

So I've been told that for streaming HD-audio I need to send it through HDMI... but how? How do I get my sound card send the sound to my graphics card and then send it from DVI to HDMI?

Or what do I have to do/buy?

Thank you!

You just asked the $400 question.

Both should beat you're current soundcards quality. The Auzentech gets the benifit of "true" EAX. From what I've seen though, the HDAV has some driver issues to work around, so I'd check up on that front before buying...

As for setup, the first option would be the correct one in this case:
Video: GPU -> HDMI -> Soundcard
Audio: Soundcard

Both: Soundcard -> Reciever -> TV/Sound System

You can't. Only the ASUS HDAV1.3 and Auzentech HomeTheatre HD have HDMI outputs and the ability to stream DTS Master Theatre/Dolby TrueHD signals.

NVIDIA GPU's connect to another device via SPDIF header, so you are stuck at 2.0 PCM and Dolby Digital/DTS Streams.

ATI GPU's have an onboard chipset that allows for 7.1 PCM, but I don't think the card can pass through DTS Master Theatre/Dolby TrueHD signals.

Thank you gamerk316, that's what I wanted to know.

So... which one do you recommend me, the asus or the azuntech?

How should I connect them, this way:

ir like this:

And last (perhaps stupid) question... Should I keep the Sound Blaster X-Fi with the optical for music or the ones you told me are better in all ways?
