how to turn off display when laptop is plugged into tv via hdmi

I want my tv just to play the sound from my laptop without having the picture, is this possible?

So you want the T.V to get the audio but not the picture on the tv? or do you want to get the audio and picture on the tv and dont want it on ur laptop? if you just want audio why not just get speakers?
