How to Use a 2-Factor Authenticator App

Password theft isn't uncommon in the Internet era. Actions such as clicking an attached link in your email message and using the same password for different accounts make your passwords easy prey. On the other side of the spectrum, however, security is further strengthened through the 2-factor authentication process. Some websites are already using this with the help of a special app. Here's how you use a 2-factor authenticator app.

1. Download a 2-factor authentication app from the Play Store or App Store. After that, install it in your phone.

2. Using your phone number, enroll your account in the 2-Step verification process using your phone. On the 2-step authentication page, choose what type of device you have. In this case, it is an Android phone.

To test if the app works, enter the code from your phone into the box labeled "Code" on your computer. Click "Verify." If the code is correct, there is a confirmation message. Click "Save" to finish the set up process.
