That said, I can't really use calendar apps. I like to think they are like to-do apps, but rarely follow through and do the stuff.

I fail to see what's so special about this particular app, except that it looks very IOSish ... which is maybe not what Android users try to achieve.
There are plenty of other options available and, on a tablet, even the stock android app looks great. As for the companion web app, that's what you get with an Outlook or Gmail account and a browser...
In that regard, I have to say that WP8 was quite miserable until now... but finally the Windows 8.1 update brings the highly needed improvements

Androids native calendar app works just fine. It integrates with Maps and I get calendar alerts across all devices. I don't need it to integrate with Facebook, I don't use Facebook to keep track of dates, I use a Calendar app.
