HP envy screen won't turn on

My HP ENVY 3160NGW's screen will not turn on, everything else seems to be working other than the screen, although the computer doesn't seem to sound like its booting at the beginning, I don't have another monitor so I cannot connect it up. Help please? Thank you.

Try the following... Turn off the laptop. Connect an external monitor. Turn on the external monitor and then turn on the laptop.

Does it work with the external monitor? If so, then you do probably need to replace the laptops screen. If it doesn't, it may well be the graphics card that needs replacing.
