Hp laptop turns on then the screen goes blank. Brand new screen.

I hooked up an external screen and it displays just fine.

If it shows fine on an external monitor, then there is a problem with the connected display.

Either the new display you got isn't working correctly, it isn't connected right (loose connection, etc.,) or the ribbon cable needs replacing.
