Hey Guys,

I hope I'm on the right section.

This is my first time asking a question from the forums, was a follower of this website's articles & forums for years, which helped me on many tech aspects.

I'm asking this question because I did not find any good articles about the questions I have.

So here's my question, I'm in need of a laptop and I've narrowed it down to 3 laptops which I have no idea about how the quality of each manufacturer since I've never owned a laptop. I currently got a surface pro and an assembled gaming desktop and never really wanted a laptop up until now.

So help me decide whether to buy HP Omen , Lenovo Y50-70 or Asus Zenbook Pro, let me provide some details about the device specs because I'll be buying one of these laptops from the middle east when I visit there in October.

HP Omen: http://www.jarir.com/computers-peripherals/laptops/433596-laptops-omen-15-5002nx-hp.html

Lenovo Y50-70 : http://www.jarir.com/computers-peripherals/laptops/441751-laptops-y5070-lenovo.html

Asus Zenbook Pro : http://www.jarir.com/computers-peripherals/laptops/441051-laptops-zenbook-asus.html

These laptops have some unique specs when compared with the one's in amazon (maybe due to region).

My main uses with a laptop:

1. Programming (Visual Studio, Netbeans, Dreamweaver)
2. Gaming (BF4, BFH, GTA V, Starwars battlefront :D )
3. Photoshop
4. Movies & Music

The omen is a bit expensive but I think HP is well known when it comes to build quality? Lenovo Y50 looks perfectly balanced overall but I'm a bit hesitated to go for it since it's a chinese brand and finally the asus has a 4k display which I would think will decrease the battery time.

What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks guys!

I would instantly discount the ASUS due to the fact it only has 8GB of RAM. The Lenovo Y-50-70 has a significantly better graphics card, but a slightly inferior processor to the HP. I bought the Omen and Lenovo a little while back and had serious overheating issues with the Omen. whilst running heavy applications (like what you have mentioned) and didn't have such issues on the Lenovo .

The Lenovo looks like it would be the best of the three because even though the processor is slightly worse than the Omen, it has SUCH a great graphics card, both far a laptop, and for it's price. The 512GB SSD on the Omen beats that of the Lenovo by miles, but if you are mainly going to be doing CPU and GPU intensive tasks, then that would appear...

Overall I would recommend the Lenovo because of its great temperature control, graphics card, and there are no fancy lights which will flash randomly like on the Omen. HP also have some repair and warranty issues when you try to send them back for a refund, repair or replace (I haven't had those issues with the Lenovo).

As someone who works in IT I can also say there have been a lot more HP's come back with PC issues than there have been Lenovo's.
