hi all,
a friend of a friend has asked me to do a fresh install of xp on his laptop.

the laptop came with windows vista installed, the problem is the software that he has got will only work on xp. his friend installed xp for him on the laptop and he said it worked fine for two weeks then he could not boot, he thinks a cracked copy of xp was put on and corrupted.

he didnt trust him to do it again with a legal copy so he has asked me.

i have installed xp and found out their is only a few drivers and software for xp but loads for vista.

i am finding it difficult to get it connected to the net or find any drivers for the laptop. Is their a way around this as hp said that this laptop does support xp but cant find the drivers anywhere.

Chances are that there aren't any drivers for XP for it, hence why the manufacturers usually say that it isn't a good idea to downgrade. His best bet at this point would be to reinstall Vista and use something like Virtual PC to run his vital programs.
