My Dell laptop is 6 + yrs. old. The Wifi card died last Sept. I keep getting a shock wave failure. Dell says I should replace it. Is it beyond use and needs to be replaced or does it have significant amount of life remaining

Dell has done that a number of times but the failures continue. Is it worth repeating the uninstall & re-install ? Thank you for your response. I totally agree with you about dell wanting the sale.

I'm not aware that a factory reset has ever been done. Just found instructions how to. Since I'm totally computer illiterate is it safe to give it a try or will it get me in deeper trouble ? I really appreciate your advice

as long as you backed up anything you dont want to lose it shouldnt be any problem to factory restore it

in fact it should run better as its like it is new again--software wise that is
