I bought an antenna but can't get the basic channels, what am I doing wrong?

I bought a TV antenna, but can't get the TV to program. HELP!!!!

Are you sure you are pointing the correct direction? http://antennaweb.org/ can help you with rotating your antenna correctly.

After connecting the antenna aim it at the TV transmitter (call the stations and ask where they are). Set the TV to ATSC over the air (rather than cable or QAM) and then run a channel scan. The TV will find available channels. If you don't do this you will not be able to tune in any channels.
