I bought an imac as a gift and my friend cannot get the @ symbol using the shift key , it is a wireless RF 333 mini keyboard ,

Does the shift key work? the #2 key work?

Check Keyboard region on the OS maybe to another layout, or try (righthand Alt) AltGr + 2 or AltGr + Q
