i cant get my acer laptop to play dvds

i have tried downloading other dvd players and still cant get a dvd to play in my acer laptop..

Windows 7 should play DVDs just fine. What exactly happens when you try? Did you try several disks? Does it read data disks fine? Do you maybe have an older laptop that does not have a DVD but only a CD player?
