i connect my HP laptop to my LG TV ... it works but i get another desktop and it doesnt show

i used to connect my laptop (HP win 10) to the TV (LG) with HDMI,,, and it used to work perfectly ... but once i was using 'microsoft power point' and suddenly the TV started showing my desktop background and the start bar only ... i tried reconnecting , restarting both TV and Laptop ... i'll be very thankfull if u help me because i use it to study because my laptop screen is broken .

Set your video options to use the TV as the only display. You just have it set to extend displays and the the second screen is where the application went to, which is the broken laptop screen.
