Solved! I connected my JVC DVHS that has an hdmi link with my new Samsun ultra 4K Smart tv. The picture is great but there is no sound

Check the audio settings on the JVC. You may have to set it to output audio over HDMI.

I got a digital optical audio out cable, two male connectors, and connected the machines, switching over the tv to using that, but I still got no sound. Maybe I have the wrong cable.

I tried using a digital audio cable to connect the two machines and set the tv on digital audio out, but that didn’t,t work. I went into the VCR and couldn’t figure out how to change the audio so it didn’t,t use hdmi. I just figured it would do that when I put in the optical cable.
