You’re not a very thorough tech writer. There’s already solutions built in that let you set the action button to do several actions. There’s plenty of YouTube videos on it. You can using shortcuts to set the action button to do different things based on orientation as well as number of presses of the action button.

You also miss the point that the action button is endlessly useful, you can set it for pretty much anything you want. If you don’t want it to control your camera or flashlight because there’s on screen, control center options then you can set it to do whatever.

The key too it is convenience. I use it daily.

I love the action button for flashlight. In the dark I can turn the flashlight on by feel as I'm picking up the phone.

Create a shortcut to mute the phone and activate the shortcut with a three finger backtap which can easily be done reaching for the phone or while setting it down.

Your Lock Screen can only have TWO actions. That’s why there’s an action button. It’s a third option.
If I need to silence my phone, it’s not so imperative that I can’t go into the dashboard and silence it there. OR even, you can have a do not disturb wallpaper and swap it from the lock screen.. effectually FOUR options then (two corners, wallpaper swap, and action button)

I love the action button. I put music recognition on it, bc I figure if I wanna Shazam a song, I need it fast and easy to get it to. Just hold and go. No messing around in menus nervous the song will go off before I get to it.

I swear if apple tosses the action button bc of your lack of creativity, Tom lol

Maybe you’re not using it to activate the most valuable functionality.

You should hook the action button up to Arc Search. After doing this, you will get the best summarized results you’ve ever seen. At just a touch of a button.
