I had HCl me laptop having sim slot but when insert it does not respond

I have HCl me laptop which had sim slot in battery compartment but when I had insert in it it does not respond
Please help me out,

As far as I know that device will take a SD card, but not a SIM card. A SIM is used for phones to have access, where as an SD card is for data storage.

Specs for that device.... http/hclmelaptop.blogspot.com/2009/10/hcl-me-laptop-p3864-specification-and.html You will note it says card reader, but that is for SD cards not SIMs.
