My laptop was dropped and the hard drive was damaged beyond repair. I replaced the hard drive and a friend of mine who knows alot more about computers than me reinstalled all the drivers and things needed to make the hardware inside it usable again. I am now trying to burn a DVD for a university project and am finding that the disk drive is not appearing in 'My Computer' and cannot be found by Adobe Premier Elements to burn the disk.
Does anyone know if there is a driver or something that I need to download to get this to work again and if so where from?

is the CD-Rom drive enabled in the BIOS?

did you load a Blank CD?

on some laptop the drive does not appear until a CD is loaded.
