I have a Dell Inspiron laptop, I changed the Workgroup name from the previous owner's to my name. When I did this I was prompted to restart the laptop. I did so, but it went to the blue screen with a cursor and won't go any farther. What can I do to fix this...

Can you please tell the exact error and error code that is displayed on the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)?

Also, can you please confirm which operating system you are using? In any case, restarting the computer in Safe Mode and changing the workgroup name to default WORKGROUP and then restarting the PC in normal mode may help.

If the above fails to work, you can open the elevated command prompt (command prompt with administrative privileges) when in Safe Mode and type SFC /SCANNOW and press Enter. Wait until the scanning is done and then restart the computer in normal mode.
