I am trying to connect my old philips tv that doesnt have a arc to my blu ray player which has a surround sound(samsung) i also have a cable box that i want to connect so i can listen to tv shows on my surround sound how do i do this i have been trying for over 3 hours now

What is the model of your TV? Your Blueray? Your cablebox?
Most "bluRay players with surround sound" are designed to produce "surround" only when playing BD/DVDs.

You will need to use the audio output of either the TV or the cable box to get audio into the HTS. Depending what kind of audio outputs you have available on the TV or cable box and what inputs on the HTS will determine what kind of connection you need. You might need a digital to analog converter.
