I have an acer aspire 3100, it came with vista basic 32 now updated to win 7 pr

My aspire 3100 is a few years old now and I've done several upgrades to it thru the years. Such as 500 gig HD, single core sempron to dual core Turion

I'm sorry seems what I was typing somehow got cutoff or lost on the entering? What I was attempting to say was I wanted to upgrade my bios as there are a couple supposedly available from acer but when I try to install them or one of them rather all I get are messages saying either that its the wrong type or not compatible. Has anyone got any suggestions that I might try?
