I have an old Samsung analog recorder with DVD player which I have connected to my TV to retrieve some recorded programs, but when played they are are predominantly green - also any DVDs I run through the machine. Anyone know what I could do about that?

Look at how the machine is connected to your HDTV. If you used the component video connectors, make sure the color codes are correct as that can cause a color shift like you describe.

If you are connected with a composite video cable to your TV you may have to set the input as composite since on some TVs the connector is shared with the component input.
