If they are not the same model then one may have a display resolution that is not compatible with the TV. Set the TV as a 2nd or extended display and change the video resolution to match the TV.
If they are the same model it's possible that there is a slight difference in two samples of the same model of laptop. Try a different HDMI input on the TV. Try a different HDMI cable.
