I am looking for a "Gaming Laptop". i am going to college next year to study to become an engineer so i will need something beefy. most likely falling into the gaming laptop realm. i need high graphic performance because i will be doing 3-D rendering and using other highly intensive software like solidworks and others of the sort. of course i will also be gaming on it so i need something that can run the present and next gen games. it has to have an ssd for the boot drive. doesnt need that much else in terms of storage. at least 8 gigs of ram, i7 of course but it would be nice to have something quieter than a jet engine but with adequate cooling. i was told by the college that a high performance laptop was a must as well as a desktop because you obviously cant bring a desktop everywhere. will not get an alienware. thats just me. i dont like dells. anything else is ok i guess i have about a 2000 dollar budget but i could probably go over that because i know i did when i built my desktop. any suggestions are welcome or any improvements to what i am already looing for would also be helpful. thanks to everyone who helps me on my search!

Best slim and powerful, light, great battery, Samsung ativ book 8 1200. If need to buy a 1tb ssd and upgrade ram to 16gb, use 8gb for ram disk and will be great powerful. quad core i7, 8gb ram, 1tb hhd, amd 8770m gpu, and 8-10 hours battery, 5lbs.

Best powerful, asus g750. Hands down. It does weigh 10lbs, and is 17' plus the fans which keep it cool under any circumstance add a lot to size so a backpack for it is very hard to find.

I had the asus and I just loved it. But I did need something more portable, so it was very very hard but I traded it for a Samsung ativ book. I love the Samsung and its almost perfect, but I loved and very much miss the asus.
