I need a new laptop.

Hello,

I am going to sell my custom gaming rig, so that I can travel more and need a laptop to replace it. I want at least an i7 quad @ >2.2Ghz, 6 hour battery (at least), (preferable) a dedicated GPU, and USB 3.0. Preferably 13", maybe 15" screen. Hard Drive doesn't matter, I will probably just get a SSD a month after I get the laptop. Weight and brand don't matter as much. Budget is around <$2000.

Look over the choice of gaming notebooks here @ XoticPC to get an idea whats out there (and what's on the way).

Some of those look very nice, thank you! Only thing is the bettery life on the higher-end models was like 2-3 hours. Alienware claims a system comparable to those 2-3 battery systems are ~8 hours. I don't know how true that is but I don't think I could get something with only a 2 hour battery. Do you think Alienware would be a good way to go?

That ~8 hours would be in powersaving mode and not playing any games. 2-3 hours is the best you are going to get out of any laptop you purchase while gaming even with a 9 cell battery.

You will get more for your money with one of the Xotic models.

Alright that helps. Thank you for commenting, I am really considering it now! They look nice, and stripped of ALIENWARE branding (and price tag) is good too!
