My wife turned it on this morning and heard a hissing sound from the back panel. Then there was no picture but there was sound. She thinks the bulb blew. The green LCD light goes on in the front and when turned on, the screen brightens up briefly twice before going out completely. Any suggestions? The green LCD light stays on. It does not blink or anything.
Obviously this model is not under any more warranties. We have the receipt and paid 1k for it on 16Feb09. Wondering what our options are with regards to replacement/repair.
Any help would be apprecieated.

If its an LED and the LED bulb went out you would still be able to see picture it would be just very faint. Its not like a projector where you can swap the bulb and be set.

Shine a flashlight directly against the screen and look very closely in a darkened room. Let us know if you can barely make out a shadowy image of the program you're trying to watch.

If you cannot see anything, the mainboard or power supply would have died.

If you can see an image, it would be the backlight that died.
