I purchased new battery and a/c adapter. charged for hours, turns on for a few seconds then shuts down. any suggestions?

I lost my AC cord. 2 years went by I purchased a new battery and AC adapter. Its been charging for hours I tried to power up computer turns on and then shuts down. Am I doing something wrong? Please help

Try it without the battery. If it does not turn on even then, either you have a bad charger, bad charge port or bad motherboard.
