I test smartwatches for a living — my favorite wearable of 2024 is a battery-life champ

Hi Tom,

Merry Xmas!

I just bought a smart watch. The essential, go / no go feature for me in a smart watch is battery. At least 5 days with standard use. The Pixel you like does not make the grade!

You mention Fitbit. I considered the Fitbit Versa 4. I looked at Amazefit. I'm the end, I went with a lower end Garmin (Venu 3 Square), as I am hoping for availability of blood glucose monitoring in the near future. I think that is a game changer.

I realise the article is about “full featured” smart watches which I guess means touchscreen in some way, but I think any article that talks smartwatch and battery life should mention the Withings Nova or Scanwatch. Heart rate, ecg, spo2, sleep tracking, temperature tracking, phone notifications, etc. I mean this thing does it all but has a “classic” watch form factor and having owned the nova; the battery life is WEEKS not days. I honestly forget about charging it entirely until it reminds me in anywhere from 3-4weeks (or longer if I haven’t been using the workout function daily).
Honestly. Will never go back to a “smart” watch while the “semi-smart” Withings gives me everything I need with this type of battery life.

I have the TicWatch 5 and the OnePlus Watch 2 and they both easily last over twice as long as the Pixel Watch 3.
