You need to post the phone question in the Smartphone's forum.
In regard to the laptop issue, It can't be fully 'off' if it is going to a screensaver with the time and date. Sounds more like it was in "Sleep" or "Hibernate" mode. Try turning it completely off (no power), and then turn it back on. It should then go to the normal screens.
If you plan on regularly using "Sleep" or "Hibernate" modes, I would recommend turning off the screen saver option then. As it can get a little 'stuck' sometimes. It happens when the two are inconflict.
I put new SIM in my android phone, numerous times in and out, but it still keeps coming up, NO SIM, SIM ERROR, even though my new carrier says it's connected?
