I turned my living room into a movie theater — here's how

I'm not really digging this one. The options seem to be "expensive setup, budget performance" options, kind of like what you'd get if you lived in an apartment and didn't care if your neighbors complained enough to get you evicted.

I understand that the writer may have been working with limited space, but a true home theater experience includes draped walls, blackout curtains, a real central AVR and tower/surround/2x sub setup. That's how you boggle the mind of your friends and family during movie night, IMHO.

Looking forward to an update.

That was the set up I had back in the day.

1080p projector - $1100
7.1 Surround Sound System - $600
HTPC running Windows Media Center Edition w/ Blu-Ray drive, CableCard functionality and MCE Remote Control - $1200
Blackout Curtains - $60
Manual Pull Down Screen (up to ~150" diagonal) - $75
Netflix DVD/Blu-Ray subscription - $19/month

Neighbors hated me, but only for those couple of hours during movie time. I'd love to rebuild it, but in my current living situation, I'd need some REALLY good headphones.
