I used the Apple Watch 8 and Oura Ring to track my sleep for a month — which is better?

What about when compared to Fitbit? Specifically the Charge 5 but really, I'm interested in which is the best of all of them for detailed data.

Someone needs to explain to me what earthly purpose sleep tracking serves. If I wake up rested, I had a good night’s sleep. If I don’t, I didn’t. This is just another way to separate fools from their money.

It is a way to try and figure out WHY you are not getting well rested. Tossing and Turning, likely too hard or too soft of a bed, heart rate elevated, nightmares or other stress related dreams. O2 level dropped, likely sleep apnea. Stuff like that.

But I do agree that it is pretty expensive for the limited data.

But the information from the app or device is useless. If one can’t sleep well, then a health care sleep specialist should be consulted. I just think these things just provide another data point in the a-sucker-is-born-every-minute database.

There are some excellent sleep trackers for the Apple Watch with only a one time fee, no subscription. Such as ‘AutoSleep’ and it’s companion app ‘HeartWatch.’ Both give you more detail than you’ll need.
Also, I get 24 hours of battery life on my Series 8 cellular model with around 55% remaining. I top it off in the morning after waking in 30 minutes. That is with 30 minutes of exercise tracking with everything turned on daily . It puzzles me you are not able to sleep with your watch every night.

Any plans to do a sleep study while wearing both? Would provide a baseline to compare both devices for sleep tracking…
