i want to connect 5.1 speakers to pc and i have only s/pdif as input

i got f&d f6000u 5.1 speakers , i want to connect it to my PC so i can get surrounded sound while watching movies , the problem is that my input is s/pdif and my mother board is gigabyte Z87 and i don't have HDMI , so any ideas how can i get it to work on my pc , shall i buy an external device to make surrounded sound work ?
