i was about opening a word document, then i mistakenly clicked on edit, now its written in japanese, aw do i change back to no

i right click on a word document file, then clicked on edit, and accept, its now displaying my document in a code format (japanese form), now i want to revert back to normal

What file extension is the document? And is it opening with Microsoft Word or something like wordpad? If you had a .docx word file saved and accidentally opened it with wordpad it just might not be able to load that file type. If you open the file with microsoft word and it's still screwy you can check previous versions of that file (depending on your version of word) by going to the file tab and then "Versions / Manage Versions"
