I believe if you believe that Nintendo is cheaping hardware for increased profits I say ur only 10% correct. Nintendo usually keeps internals cost effective to give families a break on finance because they know they can probably sell 2 to 4 of these things to a family at a time. They had last gen, a budget switch... a standard switch and the premium version. They put just the perfect amount of juice into it and milk it for anywhere from 5 to 10 years. Depending on sells. Hardware designs have peaked and there is only so many IPs that can realistically be created any given generation.

I am on the fence about the SW2. Other then first party support, Steam > Nintendo eShop in every way. Pair steam with either a solid windows install, or SteamOS/Bezzite on the legion Go/Go2, Ally Extreme/X, or any other windows/Steam based handheld and its clear were Nintendo stands today. Add in the fact we can eGPU these handheld PCs and all the sudden I just can't really justify investing anymore into Nintendo's ecosystem.

I love Zelda, Mario, Metriod,..etc, TOTK is my favorite installment so far. But its just no longer worth the price tag and the hardware choices of Nintendo when Square Enix > Nintendo when I have to choose AAA releases. And Square dropped exclusives with Sony....

Then we have just how disconnected Nintendo is with its communities. That entire SW2 release stunt? yea no. Or the increased cost in the subs (for what...?) and the new 69.99-79.99 AAA first party pricing? And dont expect discounts on that first year or even second year.

so yea, that is where Nintendo stands with me in 2025 so far.

I would buy mine tomorrow if I could. I've been playing Animal Crossing since 2005. On that alone, I will buy the new machine.
All the other stuff is gravy.
Bring me Endless Ocean and Walk it Out on Switch 2 and I will die happy.

Some people still don't realize that Nintendo doesn't have to have the highest specs to have mass market appeal.

I have an Ayaneo for the games I can't play on my Switch. The Switch is my traveling companion and it is my single favorite console of all time.
