I3-2377M or i5-3210M?

Hi everyone,

I'm about to buy a new laptop and need an advice on whether I should get the one I found. (Acer Aspire TimelineU M3-581TG - an ultrabook)

Main Specs:
i3-2377M
500GB HDD + 20GB SSD
GT640M
4GB DDR3 RAM (has only a single RAM slot)
screen res.: 1366x768
+ Win8.

and the other one (Acer V3-571G) (which is 40$ more expensive):
i5-3210M
750GB HDD
GT640
4GB DDR3 RAM (additional 4GB costs 40$)
1366x768
without OS

I'm concerned that the GPU will be bottlenecked by the CPU. If it does, how much will it affect the performance compared to the i5-3210M (in games and in general)? I've done some research and couldn't find any information comparing these 2 with the GT640M. Should i take the first or the second, and are the additional 4GB for the second worth it? Also the 1st is an ultrabook, but has very uncomfortably placed USBs and stuff, while other one has normally placed USBs but is "fatter" and heavier.

Hellow Shrkbay , i would go for the i5-3210M obviously !

The i3 would have to work harder then the i5, compare it like a car = ) i3 is running with 1,5 horse power and the i5 running with 2.5 horse power the i3 would have to use more energy and have to work harder to get forward then a i5 .. So to the anwser of your question yes the gpu will be bottlenecked bye cpu.

And yes the 4 GB DDR3 RAM would be worth it as windows 7x64 uses around 1.5GB DDR RAM just to run in idle.
I have a I5-2450M 2.5ghz with turbo boost up to 3.1 with 8GB DDR RAM. I have runned this laptop on 4GB DDR RAM and it is obviously slower on starting up and opening games etc....
This is my suggestion i know the i5 is quit expensive in comparison to the i3.

But then the i5 would run on higher temps then i3 when u play games, so i suggest buying a notebookpad with fan to cool the i5.
