One of the moments that lead to abolition in the British Empire was when British housewives boycotted sugar. They did this when they became conscious that sugar was being produced by slave labor under horrendous conditions. Sugar was a very important part of the diets of the time. It was even vital in food preservation and medicines. This was a genuine hardship for them and their families, but their Christian consciences would no longer permit them to be complicit in the exploitation of their fellow humans.

Given Apple's recent support of China's suppression of dissent and the horrid working conditions in the Apple factories- up to and including slavery for Uighurs- isn't it time for the "woke" West to put its money where its mouth is?
