Normally, cable box, blu-ray, game system all go into the surround receiver inputs then out from the receiver to the TV.

If your BD player only has HDMI out and your surround sound doesn't have HDMI there are two ways to get audio into your system.
First way is to use the audio out of the TV.
Second is to extract the audio from the HDMI output
