Increasing GHz of a laptop

*Might* be able to replace it with a higher-clocked processor (if it's PGA socket and not BGA - check with CPU-Z). There were also different families in that generation too - can't recall if they're compatible or not.

At the Core 2 Duo era, I wouldn't bother though. Anything you can get will be a small improvement at best.
