Hello, please help me in selecting among these laptops-

Both come with same graphics chips and have pretty much similar configuration except for the processors. I am confused which processor will give me better performance. Also, my laptop should not heat much as the place where I will be using it is very hot (temp way above 40C in summer).

Dont hesitate to provide your own suggestions out of these 2 if you have any. I will use this laptop for some moderate gaming, few graphics and computational softwares like Fluent, MATLAB etc.

AMD's new Carrizo-L architecture only provides a very minor performance increase compared to the Beema architecture it replaces.

At best the A8-7410 processing performance would be equal to the Core i3-5010u if all 4 cores are being used.

The updated Radeon R5 (Carrizo-L) is probably less powerful than the Intel HD 4000 graphics core in Intel 3rd generation Ivy Bridge CPUs just like the Radeon R5 (Beema) is. That means the Intel HD 5500 graphics core in 5th generation Broadwell CPUs is without a doubt much more powerful.

The A8-7410 is too new to have many benchmarks, but I compared it to the A8-6410. In general, if the concern is heat, than Intel is preferred over the AMD chip as they tend to run cooler.

Performance wise, the current Broadwell i3 that you suggested is an excellent CPU for all around work and light gaming. I have its predecessor from the Ivy Bridge generation (i3-3217u), and am consistently satisfied at how powerful it is on all tasks I throw at it.

They both have about the same CPU performance and provide the same battery life and heat while the AMD APU has better iGPU performance. Also better drivers and general better game compatibility and performance.
