Intel Intel® HD Graphics 5500 vs NVIDIA GeForce GT 940M 2GB

Hi there,

I am looking at buying the Lenovo Yoga 3 (14 Inch), Other suggestions welcome!

I want something light and portable to take into University, I am studying Illustration and Graphics so may be using it for Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator but otherwise will mainly be used for video playback and web browsing. I don't really play games, occasionally i will play league of legends or Dota 2.

Basically I was wondering will i notice a difference between intel graphics or the dedicated nvidia, as there is about £100-£200 of difference.

I know that NVIDIA is meant to better and will be better for gaming, but will i notice the difference when using photoshop?

With photoshop you won't notice a whole lot of difference but with CAD software or something like that you might find a more noticeable difference.

The GeForce 940m is only considered to be a mainstream GPU, but it's performance in games far exceeds the Intel HD 5500.

As for Photoshop the Geforce 940m will also give you a large performance increase when using complex effects.
