Internet Download Manager Doesn’t Download More Than One File at a Time

Although the Internet Download Manager or IDM is by default configured to download the maximum of 4 files simultaneously, sometimes, due to any misconfiguration or because of the installation of any inappropriate or incompatible application, the default settings automatically modify, hence configuring the IDM to download only one file at a single given time.

In other words, if any such thing happens, the Internet Download Manager refuses to download 2 or more files simultaneously, and waits for one download process to complete successfully before the next file in the queue starts getting downloaded.

In this scenario, where the download is limited to one file only, you, as an end-user, should not panic. The installed copy of the Internet Download Manager on your computer is perfectly fine, and is just misconfigured. You can easily rectify this error by increasing the number of simultaneous downloads that the Internet Download Manager should support, should you want to download multiple files simultaneously.

Rectifying the issue by setting the IDM configurations to the default is a very straightforward process and does not require any specialized technical skills to perform the task.

Below is the process that you must follow in order to resolve this issue in the Internet Download Manager:

■Log on to your computer on which the IDM is experiencing the issues.

■Once logged on, initialize the Internet Download Manager program by double-clicking its icon.

■On the opened interface, click the Scheduler icon from the standard toolbar.

■On the displayed interface, in the available combo box, increase the number of files that the Internet Download Manager should download simultaneously.

    ■Click Close button when done.

■Back on the previous interface, click the close button from the top right corner to exit the program.

■Restart the application to allow the modified settings to take effect.

■If the problem persists, restart the computer.
