Invertor or backlight out

i have an acer laptop the screen went black i read it could be a lose conntion i popped open the screen and unplugged the invertor it worked for a while then went black how can i tell if its the invertor or backlight?

Please don't double post Often it is the fuse on the inverter that goes faulty if you are lucky. The fuse is a tiny grey block that looks much like all of the other surface mounted chips near to it and can often be found by the printing on the PCB saying F1 or similar. A simple check with a continuity tester will tell you if it is OK.
