Iphone 4 error -1 fix

I am trying to update my Iphone 4 and it has crashed giving me a -1 unknown error. Any ideas to help fix it?

What was the exact process you were in the middle of when the error occurred? What are you trying to update - the software or something else? I also faced this error while upgrading to iOS6 when iOS6 was launched. After that my iPhone4 stopped working. The Apple support guys said that it's a hardware problem and your phone is dead. I couldn't get a free replacement since 1year warranty period was over. I tried restoring from different computers, subsequent iOS6 versions, disabled firewall etc many times but did not work. I would also love to see if there is a solution to this.
