Actually, as an iPhone SE (the actual SE, not the SE2) owner, I can guarantee you that's not the case. The problem is that the SE2 and 12 mini are NOT "small phones", but phablets. I'd be happy to pay $1k or so for a newer phone that had the SE form factor, but Apple hasn't clued into the fact that they left the "small phone" design entirely behind. If you're going to get a phablet like the 12 mini, you may as well go big.
