Irfanview error cant load

I'm trying to use Irfanview to convert a batch of NEF files (pictures taken on my Nikon D60) to JPG. When I "Start Batch" I get this message:

Error! Can't load: E:\DCIM\102TEST2\DSC_0251.NEF

219 Files - Errors: 219, Warnings: 0

I have the same problem trying to convert my NEF files taken on my D70. Not the most helpful error message is it? Any ideas anyone?
