looks cheap. the good stuff has carbon fiber/kevlar plates in critical points on the body including knuckles.

While I will not comment on the looks the price is not out of the believable range. All of those prices are well within sportbike / enthusiast gear ranges. A good full body motorcycle suit will run you $1-2k easy.

And while it is garish, you shoulda seen the orange CBR 600 Honda made about a decade ago...now THAT was ugly.
