If your only going to spend 1000-1200 no. At higher prices yes as they have options for higher performance like better graphic cards and better processors, but at the price your talking about no.
I would reccommend getting a asus if your going to be gaming... here are 2 good asus computers, if you can afford the 1200 go for it.

IMO, the M11x is a pretty good deal considering there really isn't any other 11' form factor laptop to compete with it at its price ($800 base, easily $1000 and up for well built)
I just bought a 2400$ beefed up m18x....... I love it but i recommend getting the OS you want. I got the cheapest OS cause i have windows 7 enterprise from my msdn account. (I use this for development machine). I did a format install and it was a real B-word trying to get all the drivers and stuff on there. they don't ship some of the drivers with it because, what i was told was, they are touchy to install and if done incorrectly you can fry you motherboard....... so it cost me another 125$ just in remote support for then to get the soft keys and graphics card drivers fixed up for me... just an fyi. Also the aluminum case is very durable but very heavy... you are essentially, and what i was looking for, getting a "mobile" desktop pc. Just my 2 cents! but for what its worth, this is a bad ass machine
