Is Avast and Malwarebytes enough?

Is a combination of Avast free edition and malwarebytes enough to protect my pc? I don't browse a whole lot but I do sometimes shop online and play online multiplayer games. I've heard good things about how light Avast is but I'm just unsure about how good its protection is. I'm very concerned about viruses and such impacting my newly-built computer in a negative way. Will Avast free edition and Malwarebytes be enough to keep it clean and running well?

Thanks for all replies!

The best way to keep your computer clean is to use it safely. Avoid clicking mysterious links, downloading suspect torrents, etc.

That being said, Malwarebytes has been all I've ever needed.
