Is it possible to change/make/use a HDMI port as a USB port on a TV?

I recently purchased a SCEPTRE X322BV-HDR 32" LED Class 720P HDTV with ultra slim metal brush bezel, 60Hz. About a week after I got this TV I plugged in my USB device and tried opening a movie...I couldnt even get any of the movies I knew were on my USB to pull up to view. I started flipping through the instruction manual and other manuals I received with the TV and found that I could only play music or view pictures. Before I return this TV for another I was wondering if it is possible to use one of the HDMI ports as a USB to play movies?

You can plug your TV into your computer over and HDMI port and watch them that way. Otherwise, you need a smart TV usually in order to play external media or an external media type of box like a roku, western digital tv live, etc.

I think you are hoping to be able to control playback from the tv itself...
but given the limitations of the TV as you've described, have you considered chromecast as a work around?
